A smartphone-and-email-only product quietly excludes a large share of users in emerging markets. Reaching everyone means meeting people on the channel they already have, including a feature phone with no data plan.
The channels that matter
- USSD works on any phone, no data, no app, the
*123#menus people already use for banking and airtime. It is the most inclusive channel there is. - SMS is universal and reliable for confirmations, alerts, and one-time codes.
- WhatsApp Business is the dominant chat channel across much of the world, with templated and session messaging.
- Voice / IVR reaches users who prefer to listen and speak, including multilingual flows.
- Email remains the right rail for receipts and longer-form transactional messages.
How we wire it
Africa's Talking covers SMS, USSD, and voice; the WhatsApp Business API covers chat; Resend covers transactional email. One engagement layer, every device, the reach a single-channel vendor cannot match. It is the same omnichannel capability behind Tukutane and Kipaji.
