Branded graphics at volume, without a designer in the loop each time

Some products need a steady stream of on brand images: a share card for every published article, a certificate for every course completion, a poster for every event. Designing each by hand does not scale, and letting the system generate raw unstyled images puts the brand at the mercy of whatever a template defaults to. The answer is a brand template filled with data automatically.

Templates plus autofill

A brand template captures the design once: the layout, the fonts, the colours, the logo placement, with named slots for the parts that change. Autofill then produces a finished, on brand image by dropping data into those slots. The designer sets the template; the system produces a thousand variations that all look deliberate.

// fill the named fields of a brand template and export
const design = await canva.createFromBrandTemplate({
  templateId: EVENT_POSTER,
  data: {
    title: event.name,
    date: formatDate(event.startsAt),
    venue: event.venue,
  },
});
const url = await canva.export(design.id, "png");

Drive it from the data you already have

The win is connecting the generator to the event that should trigger it. An article is published, so a share card is generated and attached. A ticket is sold, so a branded confirmation graphic is produced. The graphic is a byproduct of the thing happening, not a separate task someone has to remember to do.

Keep the brand in one place

Because the look lives in the template, a rebrand is editing the templates, not regenerating a backlog of one off files by hand. The colours, the type, and the logo are defined once and inherited everywhere, which is the same single source of truth instinct that the design tokens guide applies to the application interface.

Where this fits

This is the design layer doing its production job rather than its craft job. Figma keeps the product interface and the design system honest; the brand template engine mass produces the surrounding marketing and transactional imagery on brand and on autopilot. Between them, design is wired into delivery at both ends, the screen and the share card, without a person hand placing a logo every time.
